Don&#8217;t worry, these cow patties have no affiliation with the contents of a real cow paddy. Cow patties, in short, are cookies made to resemble the general colour &#8211; and sometimes texture &#8211; of a real cow paddy with the added bonus that they&#8217;re edible and taste delicious.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Below are two recipes for cow patty cookies that we found work wonders for everyone&#8217;s taste buds. Feel free to make adjustments to recipes according to allergies, preferences, etc. Share your cow patties with us on our <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/Schoolhouse.Museum.Ottawa.Valley\/\" target=\"_blank\">Facebook page!<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:60px;\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">No Bake Chocolate, Peanut Butter and Oatmeal Cookies<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>These cookies are an after school staple! They&#8217;re filling, tasty and easy to make. These patties are made to satisfy even the pickiest of eaters. Try it with your little ones for a fun family activity this summer!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-media-text alignwide is-stacked-on-mobile\"><figure class=\"wp-block-media-text__media\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"753\" height=\"708\" src=\"https:\/\/schoolhousemuseum.files.wordpress.com\/2020\/08\/screen-shot-2020-08-15-at-11.33.47-am.png?w=753\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-815\" srcset=\"https:\/\/schoolhousemuseum.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/screen-shot-2020-08-15-at-11.33.47-am.png 753w, https:\/\/schoolhousemuseum.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/screen-shot-2020-08-15-at-11.33.47-am-300x282.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 753px) 100vw, 753px\" \/><\/figure><div class=\"wp-block-media-text__content\">\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Ingredients<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>1\/2 cup unsalted butter<\/li><li>2 cups granulated sugar<\/li><li>1\/2 cup whole or 2% milk<\/li><li>4 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder<\/li><li>1\/2 cup peanut butter<\/li><li>2 teaspoons vanilla extract<\/li><li>3 cups quick cooking oats<\/li><li>Pinch of salt<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Yields 24 &#8211; 36 cookies<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Instructions<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Combine butter, sugar, milk, cocoa powder and salt in a large saucepan on high heat. Stir continuously to incorporate ingredients well.<\/li><li>Bring to a rolling boil. Once there, let mixture boil for an additional minute<\/li><li>Remove from heat and gently fold in peanut butter and vanilla extract until mixture is smooth, then gradually stir in oats<\/li><li>Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and start forming your cookies. Scoop cookies with an ice cream scoop (or the measurement of two tablespoons) into circular shapes onto baking sheet<\/li><li>Let cookies cool until completely set, about 30 minutes. Cookies can later last up to two weeks stored in an airtight container at room temperature of in the fridge<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>This recipe was adapted from one published by the Brown Eyed Baker. With a unique combination of saporous flavours, these cow patties are perfect for dinner parties, afternoon tea, book club meetings or any occasion that calls for a chocolate craving.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-media-text alignwide has-media-on-the-right is-stacked-on-mobile\"><figure class=\"wp-block-media-text__media\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"464\" height=\"405\" src=\"https:\/\/schoolhousemuseum.files.wordpress.com\/2020\/08\/screen-shot-2020-08-15-at-12.12.28-pm.png?w=464\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-819\" srcset=\"https:\/\/schoolhousemuseum.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/screen-shot-2020-08-15-at-12.12.28-pm.png 464w, https:\/\/schoolhousemuseum.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/screen-shot-2020-08-15-at-12.12.28-pm-300x262.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 464px) 100vw, 464px\" \/><\/figure><div class=\"wp-block-media-text__content\">\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Ingredients<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p>For the cookie dough: <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>2 cups granulated sugar<\/li><li>2 1\/2 sticks (1 1\/4 cups) salted butter softened<\/li><li>2 large eggs<\/li><li>1 tablespoon vanilla extract<\/li><li>2 1\/4 cups all-purpose flour<\/li><li>3\/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder<\/li><li>1 1\/2 teaspoons baking soda<\/li><li>1 teaspoon kosher salt<\/li><li>1 cup semisweet chocolate chips<\/li><li>1 cup dried cranberries, dried cherries or raisins<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>For the nut mixture:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>2 tablespoons salted butter<\/li><li>1\/4 cup packed brown sugar<\/li><li>1\/2 cup toasted slivered almonds<\/li><li>1 teaspoon ground cinnamon<\/li><li>Pinch of salt<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Yields 16 cookies<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Instructions<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Preheat the oven to 350. Line 2 baking sheets with parchment paper and line a plate with wax paper.<\/li><li>Preheat your oven to 350\u00b0 F. Place parchment paper on 2 baking sheets, then line a large plate with wax paper to be used later for the nut mixture<\/li><li>For the nut mixture, melt the butter together with the brown sugar and salt until combined. Cook until the mixture starts to form bubbles, about 3 minutes, then add the almonds, peanuts and cinnamon. Stir continuously until the nuts are evenly coated. Transfer to the lined plate and set aside to cool.<\/li><li>For the cookie dough,  cream the granulated sugar and butter in a stand mixer fitted with the paddle attachment, scraping the sides once, until fluffy. Alternatively, use a hand mixer on low speed. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing after each addition. Mix in the vanilla.<\/li><li>Gently sift all dry ingredients together, gradually adding to the mixture. Fold in chocolate chips, cranberries and the nuts you prepared until thoroughly incorporated in the dough<\/li><li>Using an ice cream scoop, measure out balls of cookie dough and place them on your prepared baking sheets with approximately three inches in between each cookie<\/li><li>Bake for 20 minutes or until the middle of the cookies are no longer runny. Remove from oven and let stand on baking sheet for 10 minutes before transferring to a cooling rack to finish cooling<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>This recipe was adapted from one The Pioneer Woman&#8217;s Ree Drummond.
