COVID-19 Updates

Welcome to the online destination for the Rolph, Buchanan, Wylie and McKay School House Museum, located in the midst of the Upper Ottawa Valley. The R.B.W.M Historical Society, owner of the museum, has been in operation for more than 30 years. The society is incorporated as a registered charity under a member of the Ontario Historical Society and is a member of the Renfrew County Museum Network and the Ontario Museums Association.

The School House Museum contains a unique collection of records, artifacts and photographs, some dating back over 1000 years. The collection preserves and showcases the history of the Upper Ottawa Valley, including the town of Laurentian Hills and Deep River (formerly the four townships of Rolph, Buchanan, Wylie and McKay, as well as Head, Clara and Maria and Pontica). The museum showcases many facets of local history, people, places and activities along the Ottawa River and the Upper Ottawa Valley which include; natives, pioneers, rural communities, logging, transportation and technology.

Thank you to all who still show interest in visiting and revisiting our museum in these trying times. In spite of unforeseen circumstances the museum and most other businesses have had to tackle, we are officially open for tours and on-site workshops. Tours and workshops will now be scheduled over the phone or online in designated time slots to ensure social distancing between visitors and provide our staff with time to disinfect the premises of any potentially harmful germs/contamination after every visit. We are making every effort to continue supplying the same quality of experience as in years past. Though many things about the way we operate have changed, we will not compromise quality in every area that counts. Thank you for your patience during these times. We hope to see you in our museum soon! Please contact (613) 584 – 2917 or click here to book your slot today!
